I notice one thing really annoying about xp home. The fact that when I right click on mydesktop for the context menu it take a good 2-4seconds is there anyway to change this. The right click anywhere else is fine an in all other old versions of windows it was instantaneous.

See if you are missing any files:
Put XP disk in, click on exit when it comes up, leave disk in, you may be missing critical system files, type in RUN box sfc /scannow and click OK. (Space between c and /) Takes about 10 minutes

Unfortunatley I don't have the Windows XP disk, I own and IBM which incorperates the winxp files on a hidden partition on the hardrive that I have no access to unless I reformat my hardrive. When I did the scan it came up with a lot of corrupt files requiring the windows xp disk, is there anything else I can do?

I have Xp home as well and I have the same problem. Although, I am not sure it is a problem since it has happened even after a reinstall.
How much RAM do you have? I am sure that is my problem since I only have 128 MB.

Ferradine your profile says you have only 128MB of RAM? That is nowhere near enough to run XP efficiently, XP is a resource HOG upgrade it to atleast 256MB or even better 384-512MB, you will think you have a new pc. Also what is running in the background? All you really need running full-time is your firewall and AV app.

Again, I don't think it is a problem, but only a shortage of resources because it takes that long for me too the FIRST time, but it pops right up the second time. I guess that is because it was put into cache of something.
The creator of this thread and I simply have a shortage of system resources in my opinion and I don't think a reinstall is necessary.

I guess I could use a little more ram, but I can go in safemode and have litterally the same problem.
