intel440bx chipset

i know this doesnt support large HDD's like 200gb
but i just wanna ask what kind of raid controller do i need for this to get it working.

this one is gonna work ?

All ATA100 controllers will work assuming you get the latest firmware.

your answer is no, not without a controller card. the onboard 440bx are ata66..32GB max on some..others have 137GB limit... and u can't always add 200GB support.

its gonna be slackware server so i wanna make sure before ill buy controller

the RAID card has it;s own BIOS independant of the mainboard's BIOS. so, you will not have the same HDD ceiling restrictions as you would by relying on the motherboard's integrated IDE controller.


if you want to run RAID, then that's fine. if all you want is the extended available drive space, then you can just use a PCI IDE controller card. just read the specs for each.... they should tell you what the max supported amount of drive space is.
