As for the parts going down, prices are always going down, it's just when you need the stuff. I'm sure if you waited till the summer, you might be able to get the stuff for cheaper, but how much is question. I'm guess prices might drop $80CAD for the over all price, but nothing too much in the next little while. The only huge drop I expect to see in the next few months if from the GF4, which will drop prices of the GF3 by alot, but then again I said that about my Radeon 64mb DDR, which still cost like $250CAD (I paid $300CAD w tax about 4 months ago!) And my processor has only gone down like $20 and for the mother board! Though the ram prices went up from when I bought my stuff! I really got a good deal with what I was going for, but I still have alot of left over's from my old system (Like my 19" monitor.)

If the money is tight, wait. If not and you already have the money saved up to spend, it's a trade off. Time with the Computer listed Versus saving X amount of money for each component. If you really don't need it yet, wait a bit. If you wanted it now, well it's all up to you . Everything drops in price eventually, it's just what suits your needs best.

Well those prices will most likely either be advertised or matched by any decent stores on college (but I recommend only a few, like Honson (pricey, but they get the job done right.), Filtech (they have the prices people want and good tech, but not alot of stock.), Canada Computer Electronics (Good prices, but crap customer service and tech support is questionable.)

what I meant by the other post, is just go by your own time. Get what you need when you can afford it. If your straining for the cash and you don't really need it, it's not really healthy! (But I do it alot because, it's my hobby!)

If you have $2200 or $2000 in three months, ask about what parts you should be looking for then and see what you can get that is different (I'm sure I'll probably be changing the setup a bit, but not too much.) I'm sure I'll still be around, so do what feels right for you. Don't rush into it because of pressure to get it. (I know I put alot on my dad to get my previous comp, before I built my own stuff and thank god the guys at the comp shop were his pals and gave him the good stuff! .)

I mean do I go and buy the stuff by myself without you or do I need to have you around so I don't get ripped off big time and if I go and buy this all who is going to put it all together...hint...hint...

BTW it's fine! I love it, she loves it, but mostly, I love it more! hehe my sweat and blood went into building that thing (sharp edges! *shudders*.)

The main reason I said Dell was your need for tech support. If you are working on a project and you computer acts up at two in the morning, you can call Dell.

If you can get a computer built by someone who knows what is happening, go for it. Just keep in mind if anything breaks, that person would probably be the best one to repair the PC. Also OEM parts usually have a shorter warrenty than retail parts.

I buy all my computers from this store! real good prices and you tell them what you want and they build it. They also have systems u can configure.

Immortal, are you saying that you purchase from MDG? If so, how is the service? I have the web site for them it is http://www.mdg.ca. The ads look good but I'm not sure about the reputation of the store. The only info I can find is that they have been open for 11 years and they offer extended service for an extra $99.00. They have 18 stores in Ontario but the one I went to was bad. No displays or anything, it made us walk right out the door without asking them anything. Maybe the store you goto is better. The other store I want to check out is called IPC Direct.

Terr don't get upset with me for not jumping on what you have offered because I'm very undecided as to what to do and want to be aware of all options before I make any decisions.
I have seen alot of friends get ripped off big time for jumping on systems that sound good until they are at home with too many questions and no support from the place they purchased from and I've seen friends get really mad because someone built them a computer and then is never around to help when something goes down.
