Netgear makes a DOCSIS 3 !??? I don't think so, sir. According to Google, it's only the SB6120 and the new Cisco model that have the DOCSIS 3 technology available at this time.

Uhm...OK, I better go throw away the ones I have out at clients...because they must not exist.
I have SMC ones out there..yes Docsis 3....Time Warner uses them for their D3 cable in NYC. They also use Ambit ones. I want to say I saw an Arris MTA at one of their setups too.
Comcast also uses SMC for their business grade setups. Moto's for their home setups.
Another ISP that I resell for just uses only Moto's for either.
The Moto 6120 was the FIRST Docsis 3 modem to be available through retail channels...meaning, any Joe Schmoe off the street could find and purchase one. But other major brands of cable modems have been supplying cable ISPs for over a year now.
You can spend some time on Google finding out various brands and how long they've been out. I'll start you out with 1 product, the SMC D3GN
http://www.smc.com/index.cfm?event=view ... 9&pid=1680
http://smc-bb.com/product/SMCD3GN-RES.html?source=258
It's been out since at least last summer, I'm not sure on release date, I didn't have to work with it until last fall with TW's big wideband push and promotion prices. You can see through Google that there are many posts on them from customers of TW, dating end of last summer/all last fall...talking about having them and the install and all related things.
The more, the merrier !!

Thanks for the heads-up on the availability of other brands of DOCSIS 3 Cable Modems -- because actually finding one to compare features and prices is STILL very difficult for the average (that's me) consumer.
I noticed that the SBC model that you posted is a different animal altogether -- a modem/wireless gateway combo. Nice !!
However, the thread topic is the SB6120 -- and that's the one that I have been working with -- and have become familiar with it's performance under a variety of conditions that are common to my geographical location (it's freakin' HOT here in the desert, and the extrene heat plays hell with the ISP's delivery system) and my choice of "equipment".
Perhaps, since you seem to be some sort of professional in this field, our viewpoints and objectives are based on totally different parameters.
I was under the impression that the thread was a place for regular folks to come to learn and exchange ideas and experiences regarding the SB6120 and it's use. With that in mind, I brought some info that I gathered from my months of experience with the SB6120, with the intent of passing on what I learned. I honestly didn't expect my opinions and numbers to be DISPUTED, or even dismissed out of hand -- but hey, it's all good !!
I know what the SB6120 does for ME -- I know that the price I paid was a good deal (85 clams, delivered), and I know how fast this thing is because I've compared numbers on many speed test sites (SpeedGuide is excellent for these comparisons) and networking forums. I know how much money I've saved while reaping the faster speeds, and I also know that I don't know everything about anything -- and neither does anybody else.
Hey, are you in the tri-state area !!?? Got snow !!????
I'm from the Philly area, but moved here almost 40 years ago. We don't have to shovel sunshine !!!
More storms headin' your way -- good luck !!

I was simply stating that there have been several other Docsis 3 cable modems on the market for a while now. I mentioned the several available, and you replied with "Netgear makes a DOCSIS 3 !??? I don't think so, sir. According to Google, it's only the SB6120 and the new Cisco model that have the DOCSIS 3 technology available at this time."
You won't find many prices..they're not in the retail channels for the general public, most are supplied directly to the ISPs...or through wholesale channels that ISPs purchase hardware from.
Most cable modems used in business grade accounts (which is what I primarily install/build/support) are combo modem/routers...gateways. Although I reconfigure them to run as pure bridged modems anyways, since I put in my own router/firewalls.
Not much snow, on the shoreline in SE CT. Mostly drizzle/wet snow yesterday 'n today.
World of difference

Guess I shoulda been more specific -- those other units you spoke of are not available to ME and other consumers through regular purchasing channels.
As a non-commercial purchaser, my options are somewhat limited -- so, if I can't get it from Amazon or Newegg, or find it on PriceGrabber, it may as well be non-existant.
And I can't find a DOCSIS 3 Netgear modem at either of those on-line stores.
Like I said, I'm on a 20/2 tier -- and I can pull WAY bigger numbers than that all day long, and the only difference is in going from a perfectly-good SB5120 to the SB6120.
As one of you fellas pointed out, there are up to 4 bonding channels available on the DOCSIS 3 -- and I'm running on 2 of them.
Currently, 37 db on both channels, 0 dbmv on both channels, upstream power @ 47 on both channels. These figures vary only VERY slightly when it's below 110 degrees F. outside, but sometimes go crazy when it gets hotter than that.
Your coastal location affords much more stable temperatures than we desert rats endure -- about 15-20 days a year when it's over 110 F.
Ah, but we don't hafta shovel that sunshine !!
