Why should they? and do you really think that would solve anything? There will be some person in the locker room who also doesn't approve.

Because it's appropriate....and the Y told they couldn't do it by the pool. Hellooooo

Seriously, is that much of an inconvenience to get out of the pool and go to another room to breast feed?

Why would you want to do it in the pool anyway? Aren't you suppose to be like swimming or something in the pool?

I can understand doing it in your own backyard, but in a public swimming pool?

See, that is your opinion. I don't think there is any place that is inappropriate to feed a child. But hey, we all have our hang-ups.

it's nudity, in public, basically, yes it is for a good cause, i firmly believe in breat feeding, but it is still nudity!

why you would want to do it in the public swimming pool is beyond me, just get out and go to another room

the argument isnt that their offedned..they are supposedly distracted...i just think that a stupid BS reason...if a lifeguard can be distracted then he shouldnt be one..becuase lot of other things going to distract him/her

Yeah, this is really a safety issue. I don't think these women are doing the backstroke with baby attached. The lifeguards should be watching the pool, and if they can't handle that job, that's their problem not the mom's.

To feed?...No ...To breast feed? Yes. ...Mine and the Y's opinion. Anyone that can't understand this is beyond help.

No its not FEEDING a child its BREAST FEEDING, which can be distracting because it reveals the breast. How cold hearted and evil mothers are now, not caring about the satefy of all just so they can be lazy and breast feed in the pool, instead of being decent and considerate and getting out of the way.

Maybe this is part of our obesity problem too, to hard to get out of the pool.

I agree and when that sounded stupid, they added their back-up reason....no food or drink in the pool. Well, okay, whatever, but it has to go for bottle fed babies too...

And Brent...is it nudity if a towel is draped over them?

If they werent watching the pool, they wouldnt know the mothers were breast feeding.

They probably have other kids in the pool. As was said if the lifeguard is going to be that distracted by someone breastfeeding than I would not trust them to watch my kids in the pool with women wearing bathing suits

You want them to pull their kids out of the pool because their baby is hungry? Would the parent have the right to sue the hell out of the Y if their kid drowned while they were being forced to breast feed in a locker room?

It is not a safety issue, it is a breast feeding fetish issue IMO

a towel draped over them in the pool?

if you can muster up enough energy to do that why can't you just get out of the pool and do it in another room

why in the world would you want to plop your breast out and breast feed in a public pool

maybe it is just cause i'm a guy, but i don't understand that

just curious have you ever seen a woman breast feed? despite what you think unless you right next to them you will probably see less then when she has her bikini on..

we might as well make all public pools nudie pools now, everyone drop your drawers and take off those tops, makes it equal for everyone, now women can breast feed, people can masturbate, we can make huge orgies out of the whole thing, hell, lifeguards can join in to!

I doubt that they are in the actual pool, but at pool side. muster up enough energy?? lol okay. I will say it again, 9 out od 10 times a woman breastfeeding in a public pplace is not showing her breast. It is not physically visible...the blanket, towel, or baby itself covers the skin. What do you have a problem with in that.?

De Plano wrote:They are not doing it IN the pool

In, out or around ...it's called consideration for others. Something these women forget. Perhaps there are mothers with children there that feel differently from these other moms and wish not to have their child exposed to this.... but rather than try to come to sort of an agreement on the issue they want to force their will on the Y.

Did you even read what I wrote? A woman with a towel across her at a pool is alot more decent and modest than one without!

I agree, and if people accepted it for what it really is, a mom feeding her kid, there wouldn't be so many hangups about it.

Most these guys dig a thong, and a couple of eye-patches for a bikini top, yet are appalled at a breastfeeding.

These mothers are as bad as PETA.

Perhaps they are watching another child who is in the pool. If not, why are they bringing a baby to a YMCA pool.

Just a quick question, how many of the gentlemen who protest public breast-feeding have children? Breastfed babies are on demand for feedings.

You aren't suggesting that you can breast feed a baby and watch a child in the pool at the same time are you?
