If you think that he wasn't scamming I dunno what to tell you man. If it was just a Box why cloud the page up with bullcrap technical specs. If theres no product in the box then don't put technical specs in that may confuse a buyer and make it appear like its a product. Putting up a price thats similiar to what everyone else is selling the actual product for is also deceptive for being just an empty box. Hell yeah I complained because he found a way to make money that I didn't like. Damn skippy. I work my ass off to make a buck. Honestly I might add. Im not ashamed of what I did at all.
I also report every single Phishing spam email that I get to each company including Banks, Ebay, and Yahoo...I guess Im wrong for doing that too!? I have also reported sites that had child pornography on them to the FBI as well...so hang me for that as well too. Im guilty send me off to jail. Im sorry there isn't enough corruption in real life for you that it bothers you so much that people complain about it on the internet. Maybe one day Ebay will have enough thieves on it that you will finally start dealing with them in the near future. Good luck with your wanting to have to pick through fine print and bullcrap. I like my **** straight up.
Brent wrote:Seriously though, if I wanted to sell an empty box why should I not be allowed to?
If someone is willing to give me $1000 for an empty box, hells yeah I'm gonna take it, I just provided something someone wanted and they paid me for it.
I don't see the problem with that. That's the way the world works, people sell things to people that want things and they pay you for it. The value and worth of an empty box to me may be different to someone else. Perhaps someone is collecting console boxes, who knows, the value to them of that empty box is different then what you think, but that's ok.
It was clearly printed that it was an empty box in the description and the title.

Zilog B wrote:I'd bet you'd feel differently if your mom spent all your christmas money on that gift for you. It's obviously deceptive.
1. It's against Ebay policy
2. The guy had it listed in the x-box console category
3. He listed system specs
We don't need asshats like that on ebay, hopefully they banned him. People like that give honest sellers a bad name.
Thanks Spamster...what gets me...is that people like the hypocrite above has the GAUL to try to correct you when you do something and then in another breath tries to say that someone obviously doing something wrong is OK for doing that. In my book thats being a hypocrite and nothing is lower than that. In the future dude...do what pleases you please..don't pay attention to people like that. Just promise me that.Spammy wrote:I agree with you here Pie. It is wrong![]()

Read it again, it isn't false advertising. In the title itself it says in all caps "BOX ONLY". In the first line of the description it says "This is the premium bundle box only". And throughout those first few lines in the description it repeatedly says it is the box only.Zerohero wrote:The problem with that is "false advertising", Which is by the way against the law. You can't have pictures of Xbox's and games up, and then in small print somewhere say "this is only a box". Someone can actually sue.

It's clearly stated that it is the box only so how can that be false advertising.
Give me proof that it is false advertising.
Does ebay have a mandatory refund policy? If not I'd offer to buy them a "Reading for Dummies" book, not even charge them shipping.Zilog B wrote:A question for the people that are defending the asshat. When the buyer gets the item, and isn't happy and wants a refund. What do you do?
Also, I saw the full item description yesterday. It is much larger than image that is posted in this thread, anybody have a full auction page?
Brent wrote:I can agree on the system specs, that didn't need to be posted since it is an empty box.
But the rest I see no problem with, it clearly states in the title and description that it is the box only.
Yeah dude, I see nothing wrong with what he did. If I want to sell an empty box on ebay are you going to whine and complain about it as well?thepieman wrote:Thanks Spamster...what gets me...is that people like the hypocrite above has the GAUL to try to correct you when you do something and then in another breath tries to say that someone obviously doing something wrong is OK for doing that. Well with phishing if you look in the corner of your browser you can see if the page your looking at is actually the page that is being shown. If its made to look exactly like an Ebay page but its actually a site in Russia designed to capture your username and password. Its the same exact thing! Its a page thts designed to confuse and manipulate a person and to take their money.YARDofSTUF wrote:So then Mr. HomeMadeApplePie, If the seller had not listed the specs and added COLLECTABLE to the item would it be ok to you?
And now your comparing thsi auction to child porn and fishing? What "Selling a box" isnt enough, need more types of crime to get momentum behind it. You keep comparing this to much more major oiffenses so that you can provide your own fuel for your fire.
You are a straight up guy, and from what you say on this forum you make sure people get a happy break, not a fair break, beacuse even them some people arent happy with just fair. The problem with this? Well for you there is none and thats great. You're a good guy to goto.
Now for me, as long as what I do is not a lie or illegal, I'll make the quick buck, the best buck I can.
Zilog B wrote:What's the complete title. It doesn't show that in the image.

Ok well 58.00 bucks isn't too bad but 400.00 is ridiculous. For 58 bucks they can get the box and give it as a promissory present or something. I still don't get what the need for putting the system specs in are for.DV wrote:This one just sold.

Its the same thing in that it targets a person that doesn't know. The same way with Adware.

How is that? If someone just paid 400 bucks for a box or if someone just got their last 400.00 taken out of their paypal account whats different? The fact that they get an empty box for their 400 bucks?YARDofSTUF wrote:Phishing is more severe that that auction, I think you agree with that even.

Ok it's not nearly as bad as $400, but $58 for a brown box that says X-box on it is pretty messed up nonetheless. Since the buyer had a 0 I am guessing the sale probably didn't actually happen.thepieman wrote:Ok well 58.00 bucks isn't too bad but 400.00 is ridiculous. Why do they lest system specs if it's only a box? See this is what I don't agree with. Another bad seller. If it's a box, just say its a box!
contact the seller, see if he will accept a return, if not, count your chickens and move on, no one forces you to buy anything off ebay, you voluntarily bid on the item and put forth the money to buy an item, if you decide you really don't want it you have to contact the person who sold it to you, it is between you and himZilog B wrote:Anybody want to tackle this question.

why should you care, if someone is wililng to put out $400 for an empty box let em, it is not for you to decidethepieman wrote:How is that? I've given them a full refund for a past purchase. The buyer thought it was a different model and even though it was his mistake I gave him a full refund less the shipping.Zilog B wrote:Anybody want to tackle this question.
