Mine were married for 34 years before mom bought the farm. Almost made it to 35, was a couple of weeks before the anniversary, but 34 is still impressive. Was quite hard on my pops, and myself. But now he and I are best buds, sit around and drink beer together, mom would have yelled at us...lol.

If one of your parents died, does that count?

Mine seperated when I was 5 and my brother was 1. I no longer speak with either one. My brother came to live with me and my husband when he was 15 and is currently living with me again, by all sence of the word I am his mom.

As for myself I have been married for almost 18 years.

I wouldn't know why not. Just because they (Or one of them) aren't with us now, isn't a reason not to include them. :) That's how I feel about it anyway.

My parents divorced when I was 12 (about 21 years ago) and it was very hard on me...I swore that I'd never do what my father did to my mother to my own wife, and we've been married for 13 years (together for 16)....about 3 years longer than my parents were together...

I haven't really talked to my father in about a year and a half...only have seen my father once in the last 10 years, and that was when I took my family to visit my grandmother back in '99.

He was the cause for my parents divorced (he couldn't keep his pants on when he was overseas working as a defense contractor)...he ended up marrying his mistress (still married to her after 20 years) and they have two kids (my half brother is 11 and my half sister is 11 (only 6 months older than my daughter)...both of they're kids I wouldn't wish on anyone...spoiled beyond reproach by their mother...I have no envy for the position my father put himself in (he will be 62 when my half brother graduates from high school and 65 when my half daughter graduates)...

My parents have been married for 46 years. They have been on each others nerve since my Dad retired in 1999, but they live for each other everyday. Can't wait for the 50th......Big Party! (I going to get them both drunk as hell) :D

My folks have been together 33 years and I can say that when the time comes that I meet my significant other, I'll take the vow of "till death do us part" for keeps. I won't marry if even the slightest dought it won't last exists, but people change, hmmm.

Trick question. My father died when I was a 5th grader. My mom remarried when I was 18. My stepdad is one great person. Yeh, they are still married!

My wife and I have been married for 22.8 years or so. My left leg is one strong SOB after hauling that ball along for all that time. :D
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

You know, it's really sad...come to think of it my father never really got a chance to be a dad with me, and we never got to that point where I am of age and able to intelligently discuss what happened between us. No closure...disturbing.

My parents have been married for 27 years this year. They met around the beggining of January 1972 and were married in November of that year. Three kids and 27 years later, still as much in love as they were when they got married

it was really strange....i met him when I was about 8 or 9, and he was basically a stranger to me, as this was the first time I met him...due to my mom thought he cleaned up his act, and my mom wanted a chance for me to have a father figure with him or something....but anyway, it was really wierd, I was scared of him actually, cuz i didn't know him. But the plan was to spend the night at his apartment, but I was too scared to be with a stranger, so my mom picked me up, we went home, and that's the first and last time I've seen him.

it was pretty common for our generations parents to do the big D.

if they divorced, wouldn't they have better off been seperated from the beginning? its hard enough losing someone as it is, and still live with the loss. parents sometimes think of of themselves, and not the ones that is hurts the most. if they cant stand each other and get divorced, fine, but what about the child who loved both of them?
i couldn't take it when my mom divorced twice, which sucked. call me weak, but it hurts more then breaking up in a relationship. it takes time to heal. trust me, i know.
