Not good.....it's a major indication that you need more sleep or that there's something amiss.

Get more sleep, Drink more Coffee, Lay off the heroin, and maybe ask your doctor for something to treat narcolepsy.

smoke a cigar while you drive.. helps you stay awake and if you doze off its likely to burn you and wake you back up quick! :thumb:

If you are sleeping through the night, when was the last time you had a complete physical with bloodwork?

I've fallen asleep on the train standing up when my blood sugar was out of wack.

Not good.

See a doctor if it's happened more than once.

I remember a couple of years ago, the company I was working for, we did a long term project building/deploying a wide area network for the school system of a town up by Yard of Stuf and Meggie. For almost 2 years I was commuting to that job 3-4 days a week. A little over an hour each way. I'd get up there rather early in the morning, and start heading home about 4pm. A good leg of that drive was this long, boring stretch of highway. For some reason, my body got into this routine where I'd struggle to stay awake for that drive. I often found myself nodding off...I'd catch myself either when my head relaxed down...or the tires of the company Saab car would hit those "wake up" vibrating noise making ridges on the edge of the road.

I smoked my share of cigars and yes you can get lung cancer from smoking them. It's already been proven by more then a few reputable places.

Just stating cancer is a legit concern and suggesting it's use is a bad idea.

I disagree, legit concern or not its helped me stay awake many nights on the way home and is a good idea. I'd rather do that than end up running my car into a tree and not making it home so don't be so quick to slam my idea.

Sava to disagree is highly irresponsible. You are suggesting the use of something that can possibly give the man cancer. In fact it's been proven over and over that it does. At this point since you were the one who stated you didn't want to debate cigars you should just let this one go because even the friggin surgeon general is on my side about this one. Cigar smoking CAN cause cancer and when a person suggests using it as a reason to keep someone else alive they are making a counter-productive argument. Yes he might keep himself from wrapping his car around a tree and dying a quick death, but in turn if he makes cigar smoking a habit he could end up dying a very slow and painful death.

I just don't get you at times man. Even in the face of overwhelming facts you continue to fight things. You may enjoy cigars and in truth when I did them I enjoyed them myself, but hailing it's use is just foolish.

No you are wrong and I am right. That's a fact Sava. I proved it coming from medical experts including the Surgeon General. Forgive the bluntness of this following remark because I don't mean to make it sound rude I just don't know how else to say it, but if you keep arguing the facts of this case you are either very ignorant in your studies or lack common sense.

Cigar smoking CAN cause cancer. That's a fact that can't be refuted.

I don't smoke anymore, stopped 3 years ago cept for the rare cigar from time to time and staying awake is a good time for one. And again I know people that have smoked for more than 40years maybe more and they don't have cancer so no matter what proof you can dial up its way off topic and goes against walking proof.

Your right about what? Cancer? You can argue all you want but I've seen different, you've seen different I'm sure you've seen people that smoke alot and never get cancer..we can go on and on and on....

I'll say it again to stay on topic cause thats what I'm going with and why I'm saying this:

My point is to suggest something to someone that can possibly cause cancer is irresponsible. Your experience may have been different, but you and anyone else including me was lucky more then anything else. Again my theory has been proven. Argue it all you want.

EVERY DAMN THING CAUSES CANCER!!!!! why did I say that in large text? Cause you always have someone suggesting it and trying to back it up with tests and tests and tests.... They just said there was mercury in Fructose Corn Syrup and I bet that causes cancer so if I suggested he drink a damn Dr Pepper are you going to argue that too?? My God man.. think a second before you jump all over me about something.

Comparing corn syrup to cigar smoking is just ridiculous man. I will let that remark by you speak for itself and move on. Your suggestion to him was irresponsible and remains so as it has been proven over and over by medical experts and the surgeon general. Feel free to disagree as highly naive as that is.

ohh hell no... Fructose Corn Syrup has been found to have Mercury in it..which we all know causes some form of cancer. Regardless of the amount or how its placed into the body its a perfect comparison and why you shouldn't be so quick to jump on that "Cancer stick" bandwagon when I only suggested a simple solution to staying awake while driving. Had I said drink a Dr Pepper to stay awake I know damn well you wouldn't have come up with the cancer argument cause you don't pay attention to everything and only the things that you can quickly grab google links to discredit anything said you disagree with.

The suggestion was good one regardless of how irresponsible YOU think it is regardless of the same medical experts and scientists that also detected that mercury in the Dr Pepper I'm currently sipping on.

Would you like the last word?

Yeah and the reason I won't let it go at that is cause your telling me I'm wrong when I'm not plus I said "last word" not "last words". My suggestion was a good one regardless of what you think it will cause in the long term...why is it a good one?? Well I use it alot and it works great that's why. So as long as you don't reply with telling me I'm wrong for doing something you don't agree with or like then I'm going to reply.

Classic. I knew you would do that. :rotfl:

Look Sava you are wrong. At this point though we have made our points clear. It's a shame you feel compelled to ignore the evidence about Cigar smoking, but you will do what you want. All I can do is tell everyone on here who is reasonable the dangers of it and why it's not a good thing to pick up.

I'm not wrong about what I'm talking about.. I'm talking about using a cigar to help you stay awake while driving. Works for me and works very well. You arguing a cancer excuse is like you arguing about Dr Pepper causing it.. big deal, so what. So again, I'm not wrong about it being a good solution since it works great for me and even a few friends I go out with..they do it too and works great.. not to mention a window down with the air blowing around and turning on the radio but radio waves cause cancer too OHH NOOS!!!

no attempt to spin anything..you just wish to ignore that everything causes some sort of cancer and you are on this mission to save us all from cigars LOL I swear man you continue to ignore everything but whatever. Its a great idea and works to keep you from falling asleep while driving. I'd like to use the turn the radio on but again, I'm afraid you might start derailing the thread to warn us about cancer from radio waves.

Tell ya what Sava. Show me evidence from the Surgeon General the way I did with Cigars and cancer that supports your claim that drinking Dr. Pepper leads to cancer. Btw, this isn't about my opinion or your opinion. This is about what medical experts say. I backed mine up. Let's see what you got. If you have something then by all means I will suggest against him using that while driving also.

I will be waiting.

didn't have to wait long... here is a quick link

http://www.greenfacts.org/en/mercury/l-2/mercury-2.htm

Mercury causes cancer.. mercury has been found in fructose corn syrup... but ya see thats beside the point..I dont' want you to go after anyone for doing anything.. including listening to the radio, talking on a cell phone, inhaling the "new car scent" from the dash.....why? Cause all of that has in some ways been shown to cause cancer. In the long wind of things it doesn't matter..doesn't make a damn what causes what.. its still a good option to use a cigar to help keep you awake while driving. I've used it alot, friends use it alot and its a choice I gave him. If you don't like it then ohh well thats your problem but to sit here and argue cancer to me is wasting more time than you reading my avatar over and over again. Time to move on man...

I never said a brand of radio or cell phone either.... its the ingredient in Dr.Pepper which will cause it much like anything else.

I understand your point, but disagree with your comparison. I have seen no evidence that Dr. Pepper causes cancer. I will say it to you again. I am asking for a specific link to support your claim about Dr. Pepper since you brought it up. If you give it to me then I will also suggest to CableDude to avoid Dr. Pepper in the process.

You don't have to agree with my comparison.. the ingredients in Dr. Pepper are what cause it. I've already told you I didn't mention a cell phone brand or a radio brand..don't have to since they all have the same results much like the same results from fructose corn syrup which is a ingredient in not only Dr. Pepper but other foods which have mercury in them. Your asking me to pin point a product by name and you have to dig deeper than that just like Cigars. I said Cigars not tobacco which is what causes cancer which is yes a "INGREDIENT"!!

Sava, does every drop of fructose corn syrup worldwide have mercury in it? Or was it maybe a single production batch that was spoiled? Got a link so we can read up?

See, smoking any single cigarette or cigar for that matter makes you absorb carcinogens. There's not a single cigarette or cigar that you could smoke avoiding carcinogens.

That in itself makes it an apples and peaches comparison. You can't compare a production batch gone wrong with an inherent property of a product.
