ICS Problems : IP Conflicts
Hi, I have just installed a NetGear WGT624 wireless Router on my network to replace a wired one. I have two computers on it at the moment. The host has an IP of 192.168.0.2 and the client 192.168.0.3 and the router has the IP of 192.168.0.1 . I can connect these computers and use file sharing and so but when I went to enable ICS it says the host has to be on 192.168.0.1 . I have tried allsorts but I cannot swap the routers IP with the hosts IP. The Host computer is running Windows XP Home and the client is Windows XP Professional. The Host has SP2 and the client SP1. Any ideas?

Hi James
, what is it that you are trying to do? A simple home network? If so undo ICS, your router allows you to share your internet so you don't need ICS.
Just directly plug each pc into your router or use the wireless and enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP for each computer then place them all in the same workgroup and share whatever files/folders you like.
Just make sure you allow your firewall to allow things, you should also update all computers to SP2.

dhcp problem
if you are still having a problem go into your router setup and disable DHCP and reassign your router IP to 192.168.0.100 (or something other than 192.168.0.1)...I had this problem when I was trying to share my dial-up connection via my router.
The ICS computer wants to hand out IPs and if DHCP is enabled in the router you get a conflict.
