Hey guys, I guess I'm just a little confused about all the new AMD stuff that's been happening. I donno what the difference is between the new Barton, AMD 64, and all that other new stuff.

Can someone explain to me, is the Barton core the same thing as the AMD 64? Or are they two seperate things? Also, what are the specs going to be on each of them? And when are they going to be available for sale?

Barton is a refresh of the athlon XP, running at higher clock speeds.

Athlon 64 is the home version of the Hammer, a new architecture.

Barton is expected spring/summer 03, 64 in summer/fall (I think)

that's up to u. at this point if you have an 800+ MHz system, i'd wait for Hammer (Athlon 64) to hit the street early next year.
