Well I'm not going to blast you but the very last sentence was in poor taste.
You have a whole slew of people here that may or may not be religious.
To say that any religion equals a hate group is just wrong.
As you said, you don't know oo much about religion, so don't make comments like that when you can't back them up with proof.

I see your point and yes, you have an argument as to whether any God exists.
I am not going to get into this one as I try to avoid the religious threads. Just keep in mind that what you say about politics and religion, especially a comment like that, are the quickest ways to get flamed.

Take it with a grain of salt. Just remember that you may offend someone that is part of a religion, that they feel, does good.

Tell someone that spent the last few weeks making sure needy people had food, clothes, and shelter (as a church function) that they are part of a hate group. I'm sure that they will be flattered.

Just to clear things up, I deleted my message. I did, however say "most religions = hate groups" which is true in a way. Ofcourse, there are good religions and through anyone apart of a particular religion...they'll think it's good. What about brain washing your followers to partake in some wrong action? Hitler...the guy who killed himself when that comet was flying by and had other people do it with him..you know. This doesn't really apply to anyone these days, maybe we're more civilized. I've only been here for 13 years and not much that I know of has happened. The main point is killing in the name of ? I think that's a song title or something but it is true. Why kill people..for a particular god? Someone who's holy expects you to kill any non-follower?! I went to a bible camp over the summer when I was like 8 and it was a total brain-washing institute. Good thing I didn't follow it. I asked what would become of my Jewish friend when he died and the counseler said he would not be accepted in heaven. WTF. I don't want to go back there. Remember, that last statement was of what the guy said to me.

    go to church.

    read the bible.

    read all other religious text.

to be educated in only one religion, is worse than not knowing any religion.

I don't see Hitler and his followers as a Religoun, heh

And if any religoun sees it fit to kill in the name of ? then I don't see that as a true good religioun either

As a Christain killing people in the name of God is not even in my vocabulary, it's just wrong, any religoun that does that is wrong

Now BEING killed in the name of Jesus is another story, I'd stand tall believing in Jesus and then being persecuted or dieing in his name.

    John,

Ferd and Issy with the inquisition also slew moors (Muslims).

It was not out of faith. It was to get all the money from a defenseless minority to fund other conquests. This is a VERY common historical theme. It is almost never about religion or ethics, its about land and money.

What people often forget about is the great Inquisition, which took place in Spain. Our beloved funders of Columbus, Ferdinand and Isabella, decided to have a "holocaust" of sorts. The religion being attacked? The Jews, once again. (also the weak and poor). The attackers? The catholics. Many jews pretended to have converted when in fact they still practiced judiasm. That is a prime example of one religion killing another.

    btw, I am Lutheran.

Yeah I am a Baptist Christian and I say that you just need to read the Bible and learn some facts before you go around and start judging all the religions of the world! You are still very young and you probably don't know every religion out there. There is always something for someone. Good luck.

    Red face

Speaking of the bible, it took 1500 years for The first approved bible to be released (wasn't that the King James one?) because the clowns through that period of time kept fighting over what should be listed and what shouldn't be. I should have titled this whole thing Cults because that's mainly what I was addressing. In man's religious past, there was so much fighting over what religion was right and what was wrong. So, they'd go knock off the heads of a couple hundred people and claim victory. As already stated, I doubt whoever they woreshipped found that dandy. What are you guy's opinions on sacrifice? I think the whole reason it kept going until tribes died out (I think the aztecs did it and some other groups over in that area) er..I think it kept going because everyone was afraid that the sun god would like burn them or something ridiculous like that. What a waste. They used blunt knives made from rocks, too.

Here's what I think about Sacrafice

God sacraficed his only Son, Jesus for US! He was born, lived as a human and then Died for what he believed in, this is the Ultimitate sacrafice. It's amazing how much God loves us, to show us that he can sacrafice his only Son for US, so that we can have the chance to be forgiven and accept him into our hearts. It's the greatest love of all, and God's got it all right

this doesnt really have to do with that... but did you know that hitler had a mass counterfeit operation, and he had, at what would be billions today, back then. he had counterfeit factories inside the concentration camps, but when they all got liberated, he took the billions and billions of dollars, and sunk them into a lake. they were discovered recently. so if he had about 1 more month to complete the operation, he would have been sucessfull in the war.
    just felt like sayin that.

Ok, maybe ur right but why does god (creator of the universe) have to have a gender? Was there a misses god somewhere running about the heavens? Why would god (the almghty) have to sacrifice anything especially his only "son"? Is he playing by a higher beings rules like we do? He the almighty for Christs sake! It says it took him days to create our planet, why, did he have to think about it? I think the bible is b/s personally, it looks at the highest power as a figment of man,how silly is that. Just my pennies worth. btw, I'm the real god u all seek

Brent I can say quite certainly that faith is an important factor in the human mind and u'll live a happier and more prosperous life than i will (the faithless).
