recommend a scanner...

I am wondering if you guys can recommend a good scanner for me.

I want something that is less than $100 and is USB connectivity.

Using XP Pro and plenty of sources.

i like canon and epson scanners.. even their low end units are great. i have a low end canon and it rox, i don't like canon's software much, but photoshop and twain work great.

We've got a couple of low-priced scanners they're just fine: HP and Memorex. Both were real cheap at Staples with rebates, store specials, and coupons combined.

I have a 160 dollar USB HP 6200C Pro scanner.. only goes up to 1200 DPI

I have a 10 dollar Microtec scanner... gets some crazy 4000+ dpi, but its parallel port, we bought this like 4 years ago

funny.. the microtek is the best scaner ive ever owned image wise... its a bitch to install though

heh.. hwen i first got that scanner i plugged it in and something ****in crazy happened... my computer couldnt find the hard drive!!!!

had to reset the bios and it was all good

program never did work right though...

but yes.. i am quite fond of my HP scanner

you honnestly can just get some cheap scanner... unless you plan to do some very high quality scanning.. then "just any ol' scanner" will work just fine...

Thanks guys. My parents were using a Visiontek and it was a piece of poop. It never worked right, so they kept returning it and stuff.

Anyway, I just thought I would find out some recommendations.

We'll probably go with something that is inexpensive, but still scans at 42bit and some higher rez.
