Question Windows 2000 SP3 Blacklisted Serial Numbers?

Hey there. I will soon have the unfortunate task of "upgrading" a friends machine to Win2K SP3 and subsequently shouldering the blame for everything that DOES go wrong after the install. Anyway, I'll deal with that. My question is does anyone know if I will ALSO be forced to deal with SP3 re-registration problems (or anything of the like) like what happened with Windows XP SP1? If so, are there any utilities available (or texts) that will help me resolve this theoretical problem and get back home to my XP and BSD machines? I really don't feel like spending 7 hours at this guys crib fiddling with Windows issues.

Any help would be regarded with the highest appreciation. Thanks.

You shouldn't have any troubles with activation/reactivation. Win2K doesn't need it.

    SP3 deployment guide.

Any trouble with the service pack and just uninstall it.

    Good show.

Thanks for the prompt info. Now I can go ahead with the upgrade knowing that it's one less problem I'll have to deal with.

    Thanks again.

To be on the safe side, there are two services you could disable... I'm not sure of their exact names, I have yet to reinstall SP3 since the last reinstall. But I think they're called something like:

    - Automatic Windows Update
    - Background Transfer Service

I'm sure NORM doesn't know the exact names ()

    Cheers,
