As you guys know, Blebs has been a friend of mine for almost 2 years. We talked a lot off of the boards. I remember when I had first asked him for his phone number, he said if I can make it through all of his phone defenses such as caller block, answer machine, etc., that I could call him. I did and we have talked on a few occassions.
He had never asked for the help that I have tried to give him, although he cried when the help came... I know that he is a private and proud person and I know what his son, Steve, put in the email update. I also know that Blebs has kept his email hidden from the boards, as he likes his privacy...
I know that many of you want to contact him with personal messages and want his email, I just don't know if giving out his email without his permission is the right thing to do...
I had not posted who "Mr. X" was and right before his operation, he posted a thread to tell everyone that it was him...
I feel very trusted by Blebs as I have all of his personal contact info, phone numbers at home and hospital, address, family info, email, etc...
I am not sure if giving his email would betray that trust...
Please discuss this and only have serious inputs and thoughts...
You guys are his friends too, as I don't have an exclusive on his friendship, but I do not want to betray his trust...
What would you do in my situation?
What would you think in his situation?
What do you feel is the right thing to do?

I would not give out his email, you know him a lot better but it sounds like he prefers to keep very private even in this time.
Even though it is with good intentions to give out his email, a lurker might end up seeing it, and not be so nice. There are some sickos out there.
If people want to contact Blebs, have them write a letter, mail it to you, and then you put it together and mail them all to Blebs.

He has made it clear he is private. There are other ways to communicate. When he feels up to it, you can ask him if it OK, he may enjoy the e-mails while re-couping but he has to give permission.
Now people that actually know him may think it is a good thing, a way of saying "hope you get better soon" but there are others that don't (like me), how do you know what I will send him and how often, etc. (of course I would never do that)
Play it safe and get permission. In the meantime I will use the boards, PM and people like you to communicate with him.
I agree with the above. Of course we all have Ross's best wishes in mind, but he must view his email account as a private thing. As his phone number.
As to putting myself into his shoes? Tough one..I can't honestly answer that.
I think that if anyone wants to write him maybe we could set up a hotmail or yahoo account just for this. That way everyone could e-mail him and maybe you(Ken) could give him the username and password to get in to check the e-mail to see how many people care for him. Then he could just get rid of the account once all is well, sound good??

Keep it private. I just got an email addy to send him an email. I don't know if it was his or his son's but, I sent the email then destroyed the addy to keep it private.
Noevo had PM'ed me to open up an email account for Blebs about 1 minute after I posted. Geez, I think that he stalks me!
