    Just a regular question...

Does logging off of an account, have the same significance as rebooting the machine, due to installation of software on that account, saying it needs a reboot?

Well, If you install a new program and then it says it has to reboot, it's just finalizing the setup and installing the rest of that program upon a reboot

If you mean logging off a site and then reboot, the answer is no. Once you log off the account, then reboot, you still have to log back on.
That's what i know. Somebody else might tell ya different.

No, when a user logs off some programs still run in the background. Windows is still loaded and running. Some programs can't install with certain windows programs running. Some even update windows system files during the boot process, before windows runs the files. IMHO it is better to reboot than log off and then back on when an install prompts for a reboot.
I don't know the same things you don't know.
