Don't you have 2-pin connectors for the swiches and LEDS?

Just plug them into the MB as shown in the manual.

At first I thought you were talking about a serial port, but now I think you are takling about a 9pin header that handles

power button, power led, reset, hdd led, (not sure about 9th pin)

I had this problem with my dell case when I went to put new hardware in it. The proprietary motherboard header connection that the Intel board in my Dell had used, contained a single row of 9 pins with a ribbon cable to interface between the motherboard and the power lights/leds/etc.

I traced the ribbon cable to a pcb mounted in the front bezel and then I traced the individual connections between the led's and swithes on the pcb to the wires in the ribbon cable. I had pulled some standard power leds with their own headers from old 386 and I cut off the led end. I know had a bunch of 2pin plastic connectors with two wires connected to them. I separated the individual wires in the ribbon cable and then soldered them to the wires from the plastic connectors.

    Here are two pics

I now have the hardware in a new case so I could get some very clear pictures of the mod if you want them.

Well Since this is the first computer I have ever put together, I really dont know how to mod my own wires etc... but if I cant find the wires ill sure give it a try, thanks for the info. btw here is the info from the Intel site.

Just plug in your 2-pin connectors from the front panel according to the chart on the Intel page. If a LED doesn't light, just reverse its connector.

You shouldn't have to mod anything unless your front panel has a ribbon like el bob's.

Yep, that's exactly what I had to work with.

    Good luck\

I have one 7-pin wire now, and one space is blocked so basicaly 6pin.
So you are saying just move it around untill it uses the power switch or what?

Sorry, that won't work. I think you'll have to do what el bob did.

All the cases I've used have had paired wires with 2-pin connectors that plug into the MB header.

Maybe someone sells a 7 to 9 pin adapter cable.

the blocked space can be removed by inserting a needle into the end w/ the hole. doesn't take much pressure.
