Having a problem with Cox HSI!

Ok, I'm having high latency to my cable modem's 1st hop and to three of my dns servers, which explains why my speeds varies between 800 to 1800kbps, which is kind of slow compared to 3000/256, and I'm used to 3000/256 like everyone So I called Cox's tech support at 1-888-952-FAST and talked to a tier 1 tech, let's call him Dan, that couldn't understand a word of techno babble I just said, so he passed me on to tier 2. 4 minutes later, a tier 2 tech picked up the phone[let's call him Mike], he had pinged my cable modem and he got 16ms to 94ms which is bad according to Cox. He had me did tracerts to zdnet and yahoo, for example, and my cable modem's 1st hop either times out, or I'd get high latency between 8ms to 350ms, which Cox defines as bad also, and your cable modem's 1st hop's pings in a tracert is supposed to be between 8ms to 38ms.

So that explains why I'm getting slow speeds and high latency to everywhere because of the cable modem's 1st hop and three dns servers are high, and the tier 2 tech told me it was either because of the line coming into the apartment is getting old, or either going from my cable modem to the node I'm connected to that's getting bad. He did a printout and emailed the printout to a top notch engineer who's supposed to call back. It's evening now and the engineer still hadn't call back, so I hope it's going to be tomorrow morning. Even tweaking my connection right now won't help me because it indiciates a problem on cox's end. I had a tech out today because I couldn't connect, and the tech blamed my computer, and I asked him why Cox HSI gets slow at peak time and he still blamed my computer, folks It's not the computer because it's 4 months old, so he told me it's on Cox's end, and to call tech support. As soon as something faster gets to Topeka, I'd be the first in line to get the service, I don't care how much it costs anymore. I'm willingly to pay $100 per month for 10mbps down and up, but 10mbps connections aren't available here and probably won't be until 2020 or later I won't be on Cox HSI until next month, so I just changed it from Cox RR to Cox HSI... And web surfing, otho, is kind of slow. And anytime I do speed tests no matter if it's 3 or 4 in the morning when people are asleep, I still get awful speeds and pings... And school is getting out this Friday, so the service I'd imagine would get even more horrible because Topeka gets boring

Seems fixed now. Unless this is better than putting up with slow speeds. I called Cox and complained to them on Thursday, I couldn't connect to the internet yesterday morning at 5am until I did a ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew, and suddenly I've been getting 2.5 to 3.2 mbps download and 220 to 240 kbps up. Seems Cox did something when I was asleep. I hope your connection gets fixed soon
