if you can respect a phenominal bassist and like far-out jazz, check out Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. i have seen Victor Wooten (their bass player) before, and he he absolutely amazing. i can sit there and try to figure out how the hell he is doing what he is doing for hours.
blows my mind.
point ax? not sure what that is, but the basses i have seen Les play were either Carl Thompson custom basses or the fretted Rickenbacher Geddy Lee gave him.
what is a point AX?
George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
atb, Milk Inc., Earthbound, Ayla, Dj Epic, Dj Mystik... to name a few.. there r many more.. but those r trance/techno mix if u guyz wonder who they r![]()
I am pretty sure that Ax was only fooling (I started by teasing Jaco).... Jaco was a great bassist
aaah... NM. i am a total goober for not reading the rest of the thread.
still, David. have a listen to "Filght of the Cosmic Hippo" (Bela Fleck). really cool music.
(*snaps fingers in applause*)
No point Faust. Just goofin' dude. Frets, no frets, makes no difference. Most great bass players handle both style instruments with equal aplomb.
I agree about Wooten, pure jaw dropping stuff. I've never seen him, but I've heard recordings. Wasn't his brother part of the band too?
I will Have to give them a closer listen, thank you Scott.
hmmm... i remember reading something along those lines. can't remember for sure. too lazy to do googling right now.
in any event, it tres bien. the music is great, but from a technical standpoint it's mind-boggling (when Vic goes off).
thumbs up!
Off Topic: Hey United, when I was a kid growing up in Plainfield, NJ, George Clinton was my barber for a year or two. His band used to practice in a room behind the shop. In spite of his outrageous hairstyles he was a pretty decent barber, believe it or not.
no problem-o David. i am sure you can appreciate their art.I will Have to give them a closer listen, thank you Scott.
enjoy, my freind.
