Richard D James: Album Aphex Twin

Quirky, interesting & definitely different this electronic CD is a strange but intriguing listen.

Buddy Holly & The Crickets: The "Chirping Crickets"

With bonus tracks it pretty much covers the essential songs by the group. He sure did a lot in a very short career. A Fave, then & now.

    ---

    James Taylor: Flag

Mixed reviews on this release, however i like it very much.

Peter Frampton: Wind of Change & Frampton's Camel

2 CD Set with perhaps Wind of Change slightly less powerful than his Frampton's Camel, though both excellent imho. Good listening.

    Toy Matinee: Toy Matinee

The one & only CD by the group featuring Patrick Leonard in collaboration with singer/lyricist Kevin Gilbert. It has been out of circulation until lately & i bought the reissue. Its quite a ride. Progessive rock.

John Hiatt: Dirty Jeans & Mudslide Hymns

Excellent as always & i thought it timely as there is a tribute to 9/11 on the last song entitled "When New York Had Her Heart Broke"

    Allen Toussaint: Connected

New Orleans R&B by a masterful writer & musician. Very nice.

A little diddy called "Computer Lady" on the 3rd. cut may appeal to those so inclined, meaning you!

Paul Simon: So Beautiful or So What

I guess i'm too old to appreciate this effort. To me it is a once played piece of crap. It is highly reviewed but i fail to see its merits. Not recommended!

At the office..but should be doing some billing. Got Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds "Live at Luther College" collection going via Winamp....and I'm staring at the "still the best music graphics in the world" milkdrop plugin for Winamp.

Finally able to plug my stereo back in after a week of storms with attendant lightening. First listen is

    State Cows: State Cows

No denying the Steely Dan influence here it jumps right out at you, but they do go in their own direction with excellent musicians. Nicely done CD

3AM & all is quiet, the hydro is at its best, my stereo warmed up & a new Suzanne Vega CD called "Close Up Vol.2 People & Places" is in the player so I sink into my chair for a listen and it becomes very apparent that the reviews about a new A/C Outlet by the name of Maestro is absolutely doing what I had thought was just hype but had ordered anyway to see if it did better the well rated Oyaide SWO-DX Ultimo I had installed months prior. Over time i had become aware of a sharpness to the highs using the Oyaide.

The Maestro after burning in for 200 hrs. most definitely sounded richer, with more bass especially mid bass & the highs where sweeter it was an all round more natural presentation of the music. I still wonder how these things can make such a difference (Sometimes not for the better), yet listening tells me they do. Feeling justified in my expenditure i now concentrate more on Suzanne & as usual she never fails to satisfy my soul. Love her stuff. Big recommendation for Maestro Outlets for anyone into this type of thing?

Suzanne Vega CD titled Close Up Vol.2 People & Places a terrific listen.
