Question Optimizer and new DSL con. (lobo)

    Lobo,

I hooked up my new DSL D-Link 300I modem and got it working but the speeds compared to my cable connection are horrible

Several speed tests indicate I'm running in the 150-200KB/sec (20 something faster than dial up)) vs. my cable speeds of 600-750KB/sec (100-118X faster). It doesn't even come close as the DSL tech sales said it would be 5 X faster than cable uhhh hmmmmmmmm.

    Anyway, Question?

Because I switched to DSL from cable, I tried switching everything in the TCP optimizer and rebooting but it still comes back as Cable with the DSL settings in place. I tried downloading optimizer again to the desktop and running through the selection DSL and Optimal values and rebooting but still says Cable. How do I fix this Lobo or anybody else? Or, does it matter since it is a normal DSL connection and maybe all the settings are the same with cable anyway?
    Win ME
    Thanks,

    Irongutz

Go into device manager and remove Cable NIC adapter and reboot, I still think Cable is faster, but who knows

And make sure you select DSL adapter in Optimizer

Thanks Lobo I'll give it a go.

My first day with DSL and I'm thinking about getting rid of it already. Just surfing the net with DSL seems a bit quicker but downloading large programs/games etc. is very slow compared to my old cable connection. I'll give some on-line games a try tomorrow and report back.

    Cheers,

    Iron:

    Lobo,

I've got 5 options to chose from:

    1. auto negotiate (selected now)
    2. 10Mbps
    3. 10Mbps full duplex
    4. 100Mbps
    5. 100Mbps full duplex

For DSL, would it be 100Mbps full duplex?

    Cheers!
