Anyone do any nice case mods including some type of dust filter on their intake fans? My case is on the floor due to space reasons and would like some nice ideas to limit how much "crud" I suck in.

You can use dryer sheets.![]()
I have a game plan ready, it invovlves the shell of an old fan, a second fan bracket, a used dryer sheet (hmm maybe the anti-static Snuggle will be better for my hardware?) and a rubber band to hold the sheet on/facilitate easy swapping when the old one get's dirty. I'll definitley post pics when it's up and running.

Thanks for the link Bala, but what fun is that if I just up and buy it? Instead of spending hours of time as well as destroying tons of perfectly good computer parts in order to fail miserably THEN order the pre fabbed one.![]()
Ya better watch you might blow ya fan
Get some room air conditioner filter material from a home center. Cut out a square of it with scissors and stick it to the front of the case (behind the bezel) with sticky-back Velcro hook pieces. I use the charcoal gray Purolator filter. It's 1/4" thick. If you are a woodworker, you can save a trip to the store by using one of your Scotch finishing pads instead.
Cutting away the sheet metal grillwork or perforations in front of the fan will substantially increase the intake area. Also a 92mm fan if there's room for it.
Actually, I have only a rear exhaust fan and lots of front openings. The front fan is redundant.

Not a woodworker but I do keep a saltwater aquarium, I could rob an algae pad or twoThey are made of the same material, just marketed differently.
OK! You've allready got a nice filter. Washable, reusable, and it sticks to Velcro hooks. You'll probably see a dust pattern on it in a couple of weeks.Originally posted by Vesuvius
