Is there a way to cut out hops?

I just started using Visual Route to find the bottlenecks when accessing sites. If found a few, is there a way I can tell my modem not to go through those areas and use different ones?

Sorry, but there is not anything you can do. The original design of the routing protocols anticipated a single net, not a net of many providers joined at a few points.

    Oh no!

That sucks for me I guess. I've noticed that at a majority of the sites I go to at hop 13 there must be a serious bottleneck. Unfortunately, this is even at odd hours like 4 am.
Also, did you all know that half of our supposedly all Comcast network runs over AT&T lines around hop 8 or so....I just found that interesting and may have something to do with the reason for the cap.
