Yep, so I just started today......I can read music..and its only treble clef, so thas the good part.....

hard part is movin fingers from fret to fret!

Ah well, I'll hopefully get better.

My goal is to be somewhat decent next summer when I enter Univ. in Sept. 2003

    I sure hope so...

I can read the music/tablature fairly easily......now its just the practicing for moving fingers from fret to fret with some speed!

lol... I thought the same thing when I started playing and it ended up being 6 - 9 hours a day! After one year I had a band and was playing gigs... Man that was fun!

.....well....> play a lil more than 20- 30 min thats really just warm up time.

you should play 1hr-2 hrs especially if you have no callisses on your fingers. when you are starting out you should spend a fair amount of time!

once you know all the chords its easier to practice and takes less time.

Hey Congrats Blitz! Trust me, the first time you learn that certain song you've heard on the radio, that 20 or 30 minutes will turn into 2 or 3 hours. I've been playing for20 years and I'm still that way (my wife hates the noise, but I guess I haven't gotten too old yet, cause it sure ain't too loud to me )

actually i reccomend 20-30 mins a day. you get faster results from varried short practices than you do with longer sessions. Id say after the first 3 months start playing till it bleeds. I started playing till it bleeds right off and yeah i got the calicus quick but man it hurt to play and i played untill i couldnt hold the guitar anymore because it hurt so bad and it didnt help me learn any faster i just tore my fingers up faster. I do have great stories to tell though lol and you gotta have a good beginner story to tell. Like some choose to put super glue on the ends of their fingers before they play to tougen em up that works but you dont get the calicus. I didnt take the pansies way thought Id play till blisters formed then popped then the next day id play the the scabs fell off and the steel was digging into my fingers and now i have little to no feeling of hot cold rough and smoot on the fingertips of my left hand and i also have no more fingerprints there either. well whatever you decide to do i guess would be best. go your own rout and dont just do what other people tell you to find whats best for you and do it that way just always remember to arch your fingers so you get it clean and your good to go.
