    Charter

    Well i got switched to charter from @home and supposedly i get the silver package with 700 k download but for some reason the most i get is 400k can someone help me tweak this =) i have winxp

    TCP options string = 020405b001010402

    MTU = 1496
    MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

    MSS = 1456
    Maximum useful data in each packet = 1456, which is equal to MSS.

    Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
    RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
    Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
    For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
    Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
    512512 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
    256256 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
    128128 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
    64064 (MSS x 44)

    bandwidth * delay product:
    Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
    Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

    MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

    Time to live left = 37 hops
    TTL value is ok.

    Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

    Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

    IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

    Charter is just straight up slow. I signed up for the 1mbit connection, and I'm lucky to see 600-700k. Yeah, I want my @home back too. They tell ya anything about yer webspace? Its like pulling teeth to find out anything.

    Remember that they are taking on tens of thousands of new customers and that you have just recently switch over. I bet it will be a couple weeks before you'll see the full advertised speed of your line. I've been with charter for a couple years. I download 928 kbps on my 768 capped line :P
