    A moral question

I have a moral question for you. This is an imaginary situation, but I think it is fun to decide what one would do.

The situation: You are in the Middle East, and there is a huge flood in progress. Many homes have been lost, water supplies compromised and structures destroyed.

Let's say that you're a photographer and getting still photos for a
news service, traveling alone, looking for particularly poignant scenes.

You come across Osama Bin Laden who has been swept away by the floodwaters.

He is barely hanging on to a tree limb and is about to go under.

You can either put down your camera and save him, or take a Pulitzer Prize winning photograph of him as he loses his grip on the limb.

So, here's the question and think carefully before you answer the
    question
    below:

    Which lens would you use?

I'd go for my 28mm for the full scope of the situation. I love the closeup, wide-angle shots. Show the terror on his face as he takes his last breath, and the flood disaster at the same time.

    Hi bigmo66

    Which lens would you use?

Me I'd use the Scopes Standard Issue Lens, for the AK47.

My gut instinct says I'm falling into a trap, but I'll say my human eye lens. I don't think I'd take the picture and I don't think I'd save his tail either.

Do you stay awake at night thinking these things through Bigmo66? J/K

I have an old Pentax w/ a 50mm lens. I'd snap a few with that camera, save the bastard and then turn him in for the reward money and then buy a Leica! Of course, the govt would probably ask me why his balls are missing!

I cannot just let someone die........

    I would save him.

Bring him back to NYC and place him on Prey's doorstep with a ribbon and bow.... Merry Xmas!

David! is not the same as death?

I agree with you about saving him in THAT situation. As a Marine on the battlefield with orders to kill however, there is no choice.

What I would like to squeeze out of him is his true motivation for his actions. What is the foundation for his hatred of the USA? Is it soley religious, envy, power, perhaps boredom? Anyone have an opinion?

I cannot, in conscience, kill someone who is not posing an immediate threat to me or my loved ones. However, I can turn him over to someone who has the proper sense of justice <snicker>. No matter to whom he is handed on my side... he will certainly perish.

I fully realise that a marine in battle has different priorities, as it should be. In this case, you brought up that it was a photographer.

Mr. bin-Laden intial beef was the Saudi gov't using US troups to defend its border. It was sacrilige.
