    Question Cleaner vs AT5.0

today i installed the cleaner 3.2 and ran a scan which found a trojan named "aristotles" which is said to be an mirc type that uses a hidden mirc client as a trojan. i have anti-trojan5.0 also installed on my pc but i notice that "aristotles" is not in its trojan database. is my at5.0 out of date or is there some other explanation.

thanks for any insight on this. rookie

The only answer I can give you is simply that AT5 may not have that particular trojan in their database. The Cleaner seems to be the top trojan removal program, which I won't question. If it says you have a trojan, then you have a trojan. I wish all the companies had the same database so that a person wouldn't have to download 2 or 3 different programs to detect a trojan, but it seems that this is the best way right now.

thanks blebs! that answers my question. i've been running at5.0 for sometime and thinking i was in great shape since it never detected a trojan. ignorance is bliss it seems.

Rookie, your database may be out of date. There is a new version of AT.

Anti-Trojan 5.5.336, possibly your trojan is in this release?

    Hey rookie
blebs is correct...your CLEANER database is outdated....update it and run the scan again. They did some changes and it began finding "ARISTOTLE" trojans...it is a false/positive.... had the same thing until they made changes to the database, now everything is fine.

    Question Trojan

The trojan you found is Called Reboot.exe. It is in ME and 98se and 98 and 95 OS"S. It looks like a computer with a big redX threw it. Just delete. It will not affect your computer at all. It was programed into windows Explorer. How is that for MicroSoft. GoFigure. Hope this helps you out. It is your windows directory!
