    Monitors...

    J/w on should i always leave my Monitor on?? or should i shut it off when i shut my comp off or its on standby. My monitor auto-goes-in-standby. I always see schools that leave monitors on 24/7, but sohuld i shut mine off when not in use, or let monitor auto turn off?

    Ya if your system goes standby, it should make the monitor go standby too, then your monitor blinks amber/green LED. When in standby mode, the monitor uses almost no power.

    yep, TuC is right on the money.

    a monitor in standby mode uses roughly the same amount of electricity as a VCR when its turned off (w/ the flashing 12:00 if you are like most people).

    Manually turning it off turns off the blinking LED, and some small circuitry that detects a VGA signal. I personally leave my monitor on all the time, and i just let it go standby when my comp is sleeping/off cuz whenever you turn on your monitor manually, it degausses automatically, which in my opinion, isn't good for the monitor. Also cuz i'm 2 lazy to push the power button
