    what about a gigabit switch?

i saw that the gigabit routers were a bit outta my price range... so i was wondering what price gigabit switches come for. i assume they arent too expensive since macs use gigabit ethernet. and i was also thinking of trying to find a CABLE/DSL router with a 4 port gigabit switch.. anyhow if any of you guys have heard of these or seen these, please reply

    1. You wont find a cable/dsl router with gigabit ethernet.

    2. Macs have gigabit ethernet, but its 1000BaseT - that is, gig ethernet over copper.

    Here are some prices:

WS-C3508G-XL-EN Catalyst 3508G XL Enterprise Edition $11,403 (about US$5000). That can take 8 gigagit ethernet.

WS-G5482 1000BASE-T GBIC $902 (about US$450). you can put up to 8 of these inthe above switch.
