That's a really good processor, you'll definitely see the difference.
B550 motherboards are good, much better priced than the X570 chipsets for very similar performance.
Been a long time.
Kind of excited for the past 3 years I used a Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF I got refurb.
I7-3770 upgraded the RAM 32gig and replaced the HDD with an SSD.
Just waiting on the Mobo now.
Ryzen 7 5700g
Gigabyte B550M
PNY XLR8 2-16gig Sticks DDR4 3600
Crucial P3 Plus 1TB M2
Cooler Master Masterbox Q300L
and Super Flower Leadex 3 550w 80+ Bronze
No Video Card (never had one on any PC I have ever had)
Not a big Gamer so doubt it will be that big of a deal anyway.
That will be a possible future upgrade and a 2.5g NIC. But would need to start replacing switches for that.
I have a Synology DS220+ NAS so plenty of storage there and I will take one of the SSDs out of this PC as well.

Cool..not so good on GFX Side I guess..
But I don't do major games or anything.
I play some AOE
C+C and
currently playing a game called Mech Arena
My Optiplex handles all that just fine..
Obviously I tried to keep the prices down a bit.
I almost bought something pre built but decided against it.
Sweet! You'll see a difference. Going from an SSD to an M2 SSD will be a huge jump in load times etc.
Also, that processor is a monster, it easily has 5 times the performance of your previous rig...
Your old Optiplex 7010 with an Intel Core i5-3470 has CPU passmark of 4682
The AMD Ryzen 7 5700G has an average passmark of 24675

Maybe the first few seconds are writing to cache, looks like some kind of buffer?

How about something open source, like CrystalDiskMark ? https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskmark/

Just ran it. CDM is also showing me less than half the write speed I had last time I tested it. I'm starting to think the drive is bad. Checked everything.
Nice upgrade...yeah the Ryzens rock, I have a slightly older Ryzen 7 Pro 4750u in my laptop, with the Vega graphics. Between the Ryzens, and the M.2 drives....lightyears ahead of prior computers.

Writing speeds look like this...
And I'm getting some erratic Reads...
Even running Crystal Disk Mark I'm getting much slower speeds than I use to. It appears the longer I run the test the lower the results.
These drives are so inexpensive I'm probably going to grab something new and different and give it a try. I was just wondering why I'm getting these results.
