I would think it would be its goal. China has the advantage of being a despotic monoculture. The US has the creative minds, but cannot act cohesively to make gains.

I know it's a NY Post link...but there are many other links from a variety of other news sources in all camp reporting the same.
I believe China has had a goal to take over the US's current spot as preeminent military and economic leader of the world. They're in it for the long game. And unfortunately, we've helped them most of the way...manufacturing has been sent over there, we purchase lots of goods from over there, not to mention the espionage they've done on the US and stolen so much IP.

China is definitely focused more on technology these days than we are, even though they got most of their IP from the US.
It seems to be a sad truth that autocracies have more cohesive long-term plans, and the ability to protect their national interests better than democracies. What China is doing as some type of new hybrid socialist/capitalist system seems to be working well for their economy too.
The Pentagon Software Chief makes a lot of sense in the importance of more focus on cyber warfare imho.
Linux is user friendly, it's just picky about its friends...

I think the bottom line is that China is seeing a bigger long-term picture/plan than we in the US do. We have politicians who only care about short term fixes and making it to the next election cycle and that's about it.

All they had to do was order by email, and they got military grade radiation-hardened microchips to plug into their satellites.
Imagine this happening to a Chinese company... The Chinese government would shut the company down, execute the CEO at Tiananmen square, and charge his family a fee for the bullet.
