NWS says Eta, now a cat 1 is due to come ashore between Tampa and the farm later today/tonight, then heading straight to you.
Shouldn't be too big of a deal, 75 mph wind, rain and 3-5' surge, for us, still you never know. Coinciding with high tide will cause some flooding. Some wind and rain your way.

Seems the west coast will get most of the pounding, the projected path is just a bit north of you.. It will be nothing like Charley, but stay safe anyway! This one is very wobbly as well. The hurricane force winds are a bit east of the eye too.
I don't think the wind on our end will be that strong, it has a lot of land to go over. Dangit! I was planning to go fishing for a couple of hours tomorrow, all this rain coming our way may ruin it. I may still be able to sneak out in the morning before wind/rain bands pick up I suppose.

Anyway, stay safe, may get to test that genny you have. Only cat 1 but still.

Yes, landfall closer to the farm than here, however the East side is always the worst...

To put things into perspective for our Cali friends --> just multiply hurricane Category x2 and you'll be approximating the equivalent earthquake Richter Scale I suppose hehe.

Gotcha. Most earthquakes at a 4.XX or under are just a blip on the radar. No real need to let them bother you. Unless you have friends from out of town and they are sure they're going to die, lol.

Not to understate winds by any means, they'll sheer any building given enough time and energy.

But we don't sh*t until the 4's and 5's quakes.

They are pretty scary.

Worst I remember was a 6.5 in 2010, epicenter was about 6 miles away.

Sounded like a freight train derailed 30' from my house.

Followed by a 5.9 three weeks later.

It is already dissipating, it was only a hurricane briefly before it hit FL. We are only getting a bit of a breeze and some rain, nothing notable. Thanks for the thoughts though, it could've been worse.

Wasn't really a big deal here. Some trees did fall, sailboats washed up, some areas were flooded. Not to downplay the people that did suffer problems, best wishes to them.

As it got close to Tampa, the dry wind from the West caused a downgrade to tropical storm. If this would have happened in August or September, it probably would have been a major at 4 or 5 and kicked our butts! The East side is always the worst and it running just offshore, parallel to the West coast would have raked disaster.

It went ashore at Cedar Key and right over the farm. Cows and pigs were pissed! No reported damage and it blew some of the methane over to Philip's area!
