Can the password be retrieved?

There are two accounts on the computer, one is mine and the other is my brother (he has gone abroad and cannot be contacted).
The problem is that i forgot new password and how to retrieve it back (If it is possible)?
This problem wouldn't be a problem if I could get in touch with my brother.

What is the Operating System? Is your account Administrator, or user on the machine?

In Windows 7, you can do this from elevated command prompt (Run "cmd" as adinistrator), then type:

net user brothersusername new_password

If you don't have Administrative privileges, you can restart the computer in "Safe mode with command prompt" (F8 at startup), and run that same command.

You have to run Command prompt as administrator, i.e. right-click on the icon and choose "Run as administrator".
