    CAT5 from NID to Modem

I will be installing a splitter in my NID and making a home run using CAT5 from the data connection to the modem.
Is it better to us both wires of one twisted pair or one wire from each of two twisted pair?

    In my experience, single wire.

I use blue w/ white and white w/ blue.

Ignore most of this but there are some good photos about 80% down.

As already mentioned, conventionally you'd use the solid blue & white/blue twisted pair only for the first line (or one single line).

Theoretically, it is better to use the two wires in a twisted pair, as twisted pairs provide some limited crosstalk, EMI and RFI protection.
Linux is user friendly, it's just picky about its friends...
Disclaimer: Please use caution when opening messages, my grasp on reality may have shaken loose during transmission (going on rusty memory circuits).

News to me, but listen to Philip

When I've done this a few times the outlet is dedicated DSL, no phone (computer room).

This last time I ran into a difference in twisted and solid core CAT5. Might be worth your time to see opinions about that and see what's available to you.
