    Weird Cable problems.

    Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I218-V
    Hitron CGNVM modem

Everytime I use the diagnostics option to test the Cable with the software it comes with, I get odd results here is what they are. I also use the optimizer and set everything to optimal.

    Cable Length Status : Passed
    Cable Length: 1 meters

    Cable polarity Status : Passed
    Cable polarity normal.

    Local Receiver Status : Passed

    Remote Receiver Status : Passed

    Cable Quality Status : Failed
Cable Quality is poor or no cable is
    connected. Possible causes: Faulty
cable, faulty connector, or a speed/duplex
    mismatch. Verify that the speed/duplex
setting on the switch/hub is configured
    for auto-negotiation.

    Cable Integrity Status : Failed
The test detected a bad connection.
    Distance to problem:* 65535 meters.

My cable is absolutely not 1 meter in length and the distance to problem thing is weirder since it coincidentally says 65535 which is my maxuserports

I don't know if the driver/software is to blame or the cable actually is screwed or the modem is screwed but i have been having constant disconnects for weeks now.

Is that a Cable Modem? Check the web interface, see what the signal levels are. You usually do that by connecting to 192.168.100.1 in your browser, and looking at the signal strength, look at this FAQ: https://www.speedguide.net/faq/what-...idered-good-78
Linux is user friendly, it's just picky about its friends...
Disclaimer: Please use caution when opening messages, my grasp on reality may have shaken loose during transmission (going on rusty memory circuits).
