    Plane Tickets too early?

So I just bought some tickets to go back to Dubai in Feb.
    Some say, It's too early.
    I think I got a good price.
    Rising fuel costs as well.

I had been checking out prices on tickets to Sydney Australia. The further out you book, the lower the price. I was playing with the dates and then checking the price. You can save a ton of cash if you know your plans well in advance..

    Checkout Hopper App.

Not sure how accurate it is.

    It told me to buy.
Prices do fluctuate a bit. Still watching.. But I already bought the tickets.

    I paid $786 + some miles.
The flight I'm on is $951 now not $920.
    Direct Flight.

Sounds like a good price... I use kayak.com lately to find good flight/hotel prices. They do fluctuate a bit if it is that far out, but not by as much as that app suggests in my experience. Usually days of the week matter, and winter prices are much cheaper on many international flights (between September 30th and June 1st).

Book early (If your plans are in written in stone), standby (you may not get to go, must be flexible) or buy close to take off time (like 3 hours before, if plane is not full, you will get a great price)

I've always wondered about that. We live about 5 miles from the Long Beach Airport. It's a small airport that several major airlines service. So, if we're unable to get on a flight we want it's really no big deal to head back home and we really don't lose any time. I've thought about trying this approach, showing up at the airport and negotiating prices with the agent an hour or so before the next plane leaves. Fly to some smaller airport so I can try the same approach for my flight back.
