    NIC Buffers

    Hi Philip!

I have a 16G system memory. My send & receive buffer for my Intel NIC is 512 respectively.

What is the maximum buffer that I can use?

512 is a good setting for Intel NICs imho, you can go up to 1024 but there is usually no reason for the network adapter to buffer too many packets. I just keep mine at 512.

i have a question, for gaming is it best to put both buffers send and receive at 80 ? or 2096, i have an intel 219v for gaming like starcraft 2 or counter strike

I would use 512 for gaming as well, or up to 1024 for higher end systems and good brand newer NICs.

Low receive and send buffers conserve a bit of memory, however, they can result in dropped packets and decreased performance if they are exhausted, so they shouldn't be set to values less than 256.
