    Damn USB charging cords

    Finally bought a cell phone.

Now I have USB cords and/or adaptors for:

    cell phone
    tablet
    GPS dog collar attachment
    friggin' toothbrush
    Bluetooth speaker
    gf's cell phones x2 (1 personal, 1 work)

at least 5 things I'm forgetting.

How the hell do you organize all this sh*t?

Not to mention, they always recommend only using the USB wall adapter your product came with to actually charge with.

I just use a couple of Anker IQ chargers and that's it. Wifey and kids can charge their own

Modern devices and cell phones have internal protection for overcharging, so all you need to figure out is using a quality charger and cables that can carry enough current and are efficient, some are even designed to throttle down charging as needed. Both the charger and USB cables need to be able to carry ~2A (2A @ 5V = 10 watts per port for chargers) to be able to charge fast enough for most modern devices.

I simply buy 2-port Anker IQ chargers from Amazon both for home and the car and get done with it, they also make 4+ port home chargers but I rarely charge more than two devices at the same spot at the same time. Just make sure you also use cables that can support that current otherwise charging will be slow.

It really doesn't matter what wall unit you use. We bought an Anker unit that plugs into the wall and have about 6-8 USB output ports. We just keep the cords plugged into it and keep it in one place. When you need to charge up, you're good to go. We also have a battery backup that we can usually charge a phone about 4 times with. We keep it as backup in case of electrical disruptions or earthquakes.

It is worth investing in a good brand charger (Anker is a good example, with a good USB cable).

Some cheapo off-brand chargers may charge very slow, or they may not work at all, there are differences in their circuitry. Some iPhones wouldn't charge with some cheapo chargers/cables, the pinouts/circuitry are a bit different. Newer cellphones will "slow charge" on USB cables with thinner wires and cheap chargers too.

I have a decent wall USB plug set.

And it's not the adapters, it's all the ficking cords with different plug types.

You can update the cords to be similar on the charger side, or use adapters.. but yeah, it's usually a mess of chords around today's electronics, lol.

My cell supports wireless charging, but it is rendered useless by a 1.5x1" metal plate in the back of the phone that I use for my car/bike mounts :/
