Bandwidth Issues. 100 Mbps Symmetric Link but download is very low.

    Dears,

I have 50 Mbps Dedicated 1:1 connection. On the speed test i get full 100 Mbps up and 100 Mbps Download speed. Also the utilization graph that is provided by my ISP shows that i am consuming full 100 Mbps because i have 300 users in the company. The issue is that when i am downloading something from the internet, it is not exceeding 500 Kbps. I have opened multiple session like 6 session and still i am not able to exceed more than 500 Kbps on each session.

I know that i have to multiply it with 8 to get the speed but for any session it is not exceeding 500 Kbps. I am downloading from different places like itunes, Microsoft and some other websites.

On the other hand i have a link from another ISP and there my download is getting to 3 - 4 Mbps. So i have complained to the ISP but they are saying that there is no problem and one session cannot guarantee maximum speed and you must open multiple session.

So please shed some light on where you think the issue can be.

    Regards,

For a 300 user company, I'm sure the IT department has an edge device (firewall/router) that manages the bandwidth, "QOS", Quality of Service. This prevents a user (or users) from hogging bandwidth. Basically it evenly divides up the bandwidth, allocating a certain amount per user...like a "limit per user".

People will forget what you said... and people will forget what you did... but people will never forget how you made them feel.
