Red face University of the People

Too much talk of death around here, here is something not as heavy.

I thought this was really cool and just been sharing it with everyone.

Nothing wrong with taking on debt to get a college education. The problem arises when people don't plan it out. People who take on 80 thousand dollars or more of debt. Not understanding that their monthly payments will turn out to be more than their housing cost. Than you have people that frivolously spend their loan money on dining out, taking vacations, new computers, new cars, and other things not necessary for their education. Also not taking advantage of scholarships or working towards honors/teacher aids programs to help lower the debt is a big mistake as well. Or not making monthly interest payments while in school. People just need to know their limits and they should plan their budget around the type of work they do now, and not the type of job they want to get after school. But out of everything people can use debt for, I would say an education is probably one of the best investments. Not just because it can land you a better job, but because it can enrich your life.

Of course, people don't take advantage of the multiple opportunities that they can to lower that debt - CLEP out of classes, challenging the finals to get credit without the major costs, etc. I mean, yes, university/college is a GIGANTIC SCAM, but there are ways to make it substantially less painful that people need to become aware of.

I think that would depend on what college you attend and what type of degree you earn.
