Cool Poor ADSL2+ Speeds with iinet and upload is faster than download!

    Hi all!
I have ADSL 2 + with iinet and have always had pretty poor speeds. If im downloading a file or torrent im usually limited to 400kb/s absolute maximum. Apparently im approx 2.5km or maximum or 3.2km from the exchange.
I did a speed test and ive been getting 0.33mbps download, 0.66 upload and a 45ms ping....
My friend did a test with iinet and got 3.38mbps download. 0.83 upload and 63ping..

I have a BOB lite 4 port modem, but i just bought a Asus rt 68u Router and hooked that up and i still get the same result if i use the bob lite or use the router....
Im not extremley tech savvy but ill give anything a shot!
here are the specs from the analyzer

thanks in advance to anyone who can help !
could it be a problem with corroded lines to the exchange and is that fixable if it was?

    cheers

I'd complain to your ISP about the poor speeds, they can test the line... You may want to check the modem stats page to see what speed it connects at.

If you call your isp and confirmed there's no problem on their end, you need to check your cabling. Do you have home phone associated with your adsl2+? If yes, Bell wire causes attenuation on the line. Best to remove the wire completely to maximise your ADSL speed. Bell wire causing your signal to noise hence reducing your broadband speed. Use a xdsl pots Splitter on the main connection and then have a dedicated single jack for your ADSL connection. This would be the best solution.
