    Congrats all around

The SG folding team has taken one hell of a hit over the past couple years, but the dedicated are still putting out a lot of points.

RaisinCain, this is a good thread on getting started: http://forums.speedguide.net/showthr...mp-Useful-Info

Depends a lot on if you have a good cpu, a good video card gpu (massively more productive), or both. Folding runs off a processor or off a (newer) video card.

For example, I have an old main machine, rebuilt many times, w/ a P4 3.0 GHz chip that spends days or even a couple of weeks crunching a work unit worth 900 points.
    Runs 5-12 hours a day.

The Nvidea 7800 GS card is great for everything else but won't support a gpu f@h client.

I also have a 24/7 f@h machine with a GE Force GTX 460 that can crank 15,000 daily, even 20,000 every now and then, as a gpu.

Let us know if you have any questions.

It's either a pointless pursuit or very gratifying, depending on how you look at it, but the hardware makes a huge difference in points per day.

More than welcome to join FatDogs if you'd like (all points go to team 15, SG, and all points go to F@h regardless of team).

I just recently cranked mine back up...right now I have 2 machines running the newest client. For comparison sake, my Xeon destroys my Quad Amd and my GTX560 destroys my HD7950 in points per day production.

    Just go to this link

    http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Guide

After reading everything you can choose your operating system type to install that program.
You'll need to choose a folding name such as your on line name 'RaisinCain' and input a team number of 15 for our team.

Once your setup if you have any questions someone here can probably answer them, or direct you to someone who can.

    Welcome to the team.

    Rick

    P.S.
I have 3 rigs folding and here is their point output.
    1. Intel i7 860 @ 2.80 Ghz (8 cores throttled down to 4 to accommodate my gpus) @ 3,200 Points Per Day (PPD)
The 3 GTX 660's installed fold at 40,000 to 42,000 PPD but other work units sometimes drop it to 10,000 to 20,000 PPD
    2. Intel i7 950 @ 3.07 Ghz ((8 cores throttled down to 6 to accommodate my gpus) @ 10,000 PPD
A pair of GTX 650's getting 10,000 to 15,000 PPD
    3. AMD duel 6238's total of 24 cores. Throttled down to 22 cores getting 50,000 PPD
    A GTX 650 getting 12,500 PPD
    A GTX 670 getting 67,000 PPD

I'm currently averaging about 274,000 PPD on the 3 rigs total.

But you can see the difference between types of hardware.
If by chance you had a new TITAN Graphics card I hear they can get around 145,000 PPD.
