    Red face I wish Charter would have told me...

    I called them today regarding a billing issue and during the conversation the girl tells me that my speed shold be 30/4. It looks like they bumped up everyone on January 1st, horaay! That's when I tell her I'm only getting 17/3. To make a long story short... I have one of their older modems! I'm going to turn it in and buy my own and save another $7 a month. Can't way to see the 30 download and how it looks. You would have thought they'd tell everyone with a "old" modem that they're missing out(?). Oh well.

    Normally when ISP's do that they at least push out an email... I watch the Comcast forum boards over on DSL reports and I talk to the local guys around here about things that go on. For me a upgrade to say DOCSIS 3.0 won't happen for another 2 years in my area which is sad... blame it on the small customer base. In the past I've just gotten emails to minor upgrades which they've gotten better with service over the last few years and with notifications. As for the modem Charter may work very good with the new Surfboards like the 6120 which gave me a nice boost even when not on DOCSIS 3.0 yet.

    Damn, got the new modem hooked up. A bit more than the 30 I was promised.

    It took 3 times to get this modem up. Don't know what it was but today we're good. Also, when talking to Charter the last 2 days they're really pushing their 100mb download service. They must have mentioned it 5 times while I was on the phone.
