    battery

Somebody left their laptop in lock mode without shutting it off last night.

It drained the battery to 88%. Should I just continue to run off the battery the rest of the day without charging?

Tis up to you. I'm guessing the charger isn't around? Do you have to do anything with it? Or..unlock it with Admin credentials if you have to do something to it before the battery runs out.

charger is here. Didn't realize I left it on for like 9 hours. Rarely run this thing off the battery, always plugged in. I had shut it down this morning.

kind of a thread jack, but is it better to take the battery out when running a laptop for weeks at a time at home when it is plugged into the wall power ?

Not with todays li-pol batteries (and prior li-ion). In the days of old laptops with early nicads....yeah, batteries had "memory" and it was good to run them down all the way now and then. Or when not using them..remove them. But such things are pretty much extinct now with todays battery tech.
