Any recommendations for a LAN messenger program?

Small LAN at work, maybe 6 computers that'd be used for this. I don't want to use an Internet-based messenger.

Not looking for an IM program as much as something I can leave small text files for users with, regardless of what computer I send it from. Almost like electronic Post-it notes that'd require a password to read.

Have looked at a few so far but most have way too many features, or only function for instant messaging. We're a small business with under 12 employees. I just want to be able to open the program, select a name, type a short message, and have them receive it the next time they're at their computer.

My co-workers are asking why I don't just use email but I'm just looking for quick and simple. Something my co-workers can use to let me know who called on my days off, to send reminders to myself from one computer that I can see at another computer the following day.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

That's one of the few we've looked at so far.

That's ok, I appreciate your answer. Softros was one I'd already looked at.

I just added network chat http://download.cnet.com/Network-Cha...-10326659.html

It is free, very easy and easy to add users. And even has smiley faces.

Thanks for the suggestion but way more than we need and too expensive.

    We don't need
Web client support for remote attendee flexibility
Interactive application/desktop sharing and whiteboard tools
Active speaker video switching, multi-party video, and multi-party VoIP audio
Rich-media presentations, native video conferencing, high-fidelity recording, and Web-cam capabilities
Training and event management with event and class registration and virtual breakout rooms

I just need to be able to leave the equivelant of a PostIt note for another given user to see.
Don't need real-time anything, don't need chatting, don't need teleconferencing or VoIP.

Just something simple that can be installed on about 6 desktops so any one of about 12 employees can leave a message for someone else to see later that day or the next day.
    Like email, but much simpler.

That looks good but is it just real-time? I need the program to be able to store a message for later, not just have instant chatting.
We're talking a small store crammed with product and computers. We can yell to the other end of the store if we need to chat

That's just normal posts from Haggis..he runs on just a few brain cells, probably does some other mind altering things, and gets a kick from spamming up the boards in that frame of mind a few times a week. (his parents didn't give him that Red Ryder wagon he wanted for Christmas when he was a little kid)
