Lightbulb TCP Optimizer version 3.0.7 released

We've updated the SG TCP Optimizer!

As with all 3.x versions the software supports all Windows OSes from Windows 9x to the latest Windows 7 release in both x86 and x64 variants.

This build 3.0.7 is now the latest stable release. It can be downloaded from the same location as previous releases:

Please post bug reports, comments and feedback about the release in this thread.

For any personal questions, help with tuning your connection, please start a new thread with your current settings and enough information so we can help you.

The online documentation is not yet updated with all new settings, but available here: TCP Optimizer Documentation
The documentation includes a change log as well.

    Changes:
    3.0.7
-Improved international Windows support (MTU should be correctly recognized and modified for most countries/network adapters)
-Increased MTU limit to 9000 to accomodate some Gigabit connections per users request
-Changed ECN Capability optimal recommendation in General tab based on user feedback and issues with some US ISPs
-Fixed a minor issue with TcpAckFrequency and TcpDelAckTicks not applied only in "custom" mode in some cases where the Network adapter is not recognized

You can view previous updates and past issues with the program in the following threads:
    version 3.0.6
    version 3.0.4
    version 3.0.3
    version 3.0.2
    version 3.0/3.0.1
    version 2.0.3
    version 2.0.2 final version 2.0.2 RC2 version 2.0.2 RC1 version 2.0.2 beta
    version 2.0.1 final
version 2.0.0 final version 2 beta

    Feedback:
Please post any constructive feedback and bug reports in this thread.
We'd especially like to know if you're running an international version of Windows whether the current netsh settings and MTU (General tab) are correctly recognized by the new version.

Note: Any posts asking questions about how to tweak your internet connection using the Optimizer should be posted in a separate thread, and will be deleted or moved from this thread.

You can just delete old versions and download/use this one as needed instead. The TCP Optimizer is a simple executable and does not require installation.

If you have already tuned your connection there should be no changes needed, you may only want to try the on/off change with ECN Capability. A list of the specific changes/improvements has been posted above.

Hi all, i made a test with the tcp/ip analyzer and here is my result:

    « SpeedGuide.net TCP Analyzer Results »
    Tested on: 04.21.2011 15:11
    IP address: 212.76.xxx.xxx
    Client OS: Windows 7

    TCP options string: 020405b40103030201010402
    MSS: 1460
    MTU: 1500
TCP Window: 65700 (multiple of MSS)
    RWIN Scaling: 2 bits (2^2=4)
    Unscaled RWIN : 16425
    Recommended RWINs: 64240, 128480, 256960, 513920, 1027840
    BDP limit (200ms): 2628kbps (329KBytes/s)
    BDP limit (500ms): 1051kbps (131KBytes/s)
    MTU Discovery: ON
    TTL: 48
    Timestamps: OFF
    SACKs: ON
    IP ToS: 00000000 (0)

I think that i've a problem with rwin auto-tunning in 7, it said that i must put 513920, but i cant in 3.0.7!!
What must i do? ( i use optimal proposition in SG TCP Optimizer 3.0.7!!)
    THX

dafmat71, please start a separate thread for specific questions about using the Optimizer.
To answer your question, under Windows 7 we can adjust the way the RWIN (TCP Window) algorithm behaves, i.e. "normal", "experimental", etc., however we can't set it to one specific value. It varies with the quality of the current connection.

yes sorry, but you will say can or cant: "under Windows 7 we can adjust the way the RWIN"? so its ok for me, not must change "normal"?

The most common optimal setting is "normal", I'd just leave it at that.

pls add this to next version game tweak

    Hi!
I d like this setting to change by tcp optimizer not registry editing, in gaming tweak section.
This has drastic effect on ping and ping spikes (gone). Nagling had only minor effect.

win7: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile There will be an entry for NetworkThrottlingIndex, default value is 10; set it to FFFFFFFF hex (willl look like 0xFFFFFFFF to the right of the entry)

Thanks for the suggestion klezzz, the setting is in the tweaking article and I was thinking of adding that into the program as well. What game(s) did you personally experience the lag spike reduction in ? What type of network connection ?

Last time bf1942 (dc mod) ~1000km distant server, ping was 30-90ms now stable 20ms.
Connection: FTTB 80/25 Mbit all wired.

TCP Optimizer V3.0.7 - Error Prompt "Ok"

Downloaded SG TCP Optimizer V3.0.7 today. Trying to apply Custom or Optimal settings to an instance of Windows 7 Pro. Continuously receiving Error prompt with a message of "OK." Changes do not go into effect. Tried Shutdowns, Restarts and restore of Windows Default Settings while running as Administrator to no avail. Suggestions?

Did you download it from this website ?
Can you try deleting it and re-downloading ?
    32 or 64-bit version of Windows ?
If you right-click on the program, and navigate to the "Security" tab, can you tick "Run as Administrator" and see if it changes anything ?
