    Internet Explorer 9 Thread

Well lets start it off.. for all discussions for IE9.

First off we now know that March 14th is the official release date for the browser! Will be nice to see it side by side against the newest version of Chrome that just released and the soon to release FireFox4!

    More customizable?

Yup...it's quite good. Actually it's pretty danged good....Microsoft is determined to reel back in some of its browser market share. Immediate impression was....quite Chrome like.
Pinned sites is cool. Download manager is cool. I think the notification bar will end up being useful. I'm not sure how well the ActiveX filtering feature will end up being...

I mentioned last month that we would be down in Austin, TX for SXSW. Since then there has been plenty of speculation and interest as to what might be happening. Exactly twelve months from the first Platform Preview of IE9, on Monday March 14th we will celebrate the developers and designers who are making a more beautiful web for all of us. We will release the final version of Internet Explorer 9 for download beginning at 9 p.m. Pacific.

So between the new Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer it looks like Firefox wins it.

The install went pretty quick at least for me, It looks as if it runs really good too. I'm going to stick to FF for my primary Browser but this is a nice boost. Too bad it wasn't added to Xp considering how much it's still used but on another note moving on is a good idea to let the OS die.

Removed the RC and installed RTW this morning. Nice and fast on my PC. Still can't set the 64 bit version as default browser though, WTF Microsoft!

I have FF set to my default and will make it so FF4 64bit is when it releases but as with IE I just pinned the 64bit run to the task bar in place of the 32bit.

I have 32 and 64 bit icons on my task bar. If I launch IE 64 bit before clicking any links in e-mail etc, clicking a link will just open another tab in IE 64 bit. Otherwise IE 32 bit opens. I don't think I should have to do that. It just annoys me when Microsoft makes these decisions "for" me. I just wish that sometimes they would give some of us credit for actually knowing what we are doing.

    I just installed IE9.

How do we move the Menu bar above the Address Bar? Is it possible?

Or is it possible to move the Menu bar to the left of the Address field in the same row?
