    Question A question asbout HDMI

On a DVD player with HDMI output does the one cable carry audio and video to the TV?

And is the signal analog or digital?

HDMI carries both audio and video, and its digital.

Thanks for the info. I did some more reading about it here. I have four HDMI inputs on my TV, I think Iím going all HDMI for my video. My stereo has tos-link (fiber optics), so Iím probably going to use that to get better surround and sound. I was looking into it, thereís DVD players with HDMI and tos-link outputs now. My system isnít super high end but itís nothing to sneeze at either.

your tv should also have a digital audio out (tos-link) that you can hook up to the surround sound. This way 1 cable for audio from any source

That's how I have my TV video and audio setup, the tos-link going from the Dish network receiver to the sony sound receiver and the HDMI directly to the TV but I also have a another stereo audio feed to the TV so I can switch to get away from that full digital, since sometimes I feel the stereo produces better sound in some shows or movies. Most if not all HDMI cables should all be 1.3v or higher now so as long as your on those or better your in good shape and even better shape if you jump to a set of monster cables

This is like mine. I have about a billion connections on my TV. I've been using HDMI or tos-link where ever I can.

I've just been sticking to OneCall here lately for better deals,no state sales tax and top of the line items when it comes to the higher end parts.. as for cables well I've gone all monster cables for everything and even though some don't say there is a difference I've seen and heard the difference. You get what you pay for when it comes to cables.

The guys in work rave about this place for HDMI: http://www.cablesforless.com/

I always say, look at shipping charges first, and then buy.

Man talking about cables is like talking about religion, politics or motor oil. You can talk till you are blue in the face and you’re still liable not to change the other persons opinion on matters.

That’s like these Dayton cables. People probably think they are junk because they are so cheap, read some of the reviews, it’s a top notch cable. I’ve seen them rated CL2 and 3 for in wall use, 1.3b and 1.4, and constructed from 24 gauge wire. It’s a premium cable at a budget price.

I’ve been reading a lot about HDMI because my TV has four of those inputs. As good and cheap as those cables are, it’d be a shame not to go all HDMI. Especially since new DVD players and such have HDMI and tos-link outputs.

I get all my HDMI cables from Verizon lol. Just walk into the store and tell them i need one. I see it this way. Digital is all or nothing. Not like analog. You either have single or not. no bad or good signle.

They have some good prices too. I like the fact that they different color HDMI cables. I might order four different colors for the ones in the wall. It’ll make it easier Make it easier to know which cable goes where.
