    Independent Antivirus Analysis & Ranking

    Hey Guys,

I'm trying to determine which is the best paid anti virus. I remember a long time ago there was a website which did numerous tests on anti virus software and ranked them. There are quite a few sites out there that do this but I'm not sure if they are legitimate. Do you guys have any recommendations on a well respected website that provides detailed analysis and ranking of anti virus software?

    Thanks
    Matt

    Thanks!

It surprises me that Symantec is rated #1. I've always had so much trouble with Symantec Antivirus products I have a hard time believing that in test it appears to perform very well.

Am I behind the times? Does anyone else use Symantec? I've been using ESET NOD32 for years and find it very light weight but it has missed malware in the past.

I would rather stab myself in the foot than use anything Symantec... I used nod32 paid stuff for a while but found just the freebie version of Avast did me just fine. Malware will always be there - ya gotta be in control of what you click on regardless of what AV your using.

They've actually been strong in detection for quite a few years, and 2 years ago they completely re-wrote their code from the ground up....and now their product is very light....their AV product weighs in at under 8 megs.

Which test were you looking at where Symantec was #1 though?
