    what a thing to do.

Alosi acknowledged he could be punished when he apologized for a "total lapse in judgment." Alosi interfered with Carroll when he appeared to stick his leg out and trip Carroll as the Miami player ran along the Jets' sideline.

Fire him... no place in this sport to do these things when so much is at stake either the health of the player or the money a team stands to lose if that cost them the game.

and add a suspension also so that anyone choosing to hire him won't get him for 1 year.

OK, to me he apologized right away. He took full responsibility for his actions. I think a 2-3 game suspension and a fine of say $100,000. While I don't condone his actions in any way, his apology seemed real.

Man enough to apologize...what else could he do? No way to justify his actions.
Childish enough to trip the guy in the first place, no room for that IMO.

I don't think you're defending him Left, just different opinions as to how it should be dealt with.

what if the player had been really hurt bad and was out for maybe the rest of the season or worse ?

I think immediate termination is fair, there are way too many good people out there that would like that job.

how would it be handled if a person in an office or restaurant or store atmosphere tripped a guy walking buy ,and that guy got hurt,IMO there is too much leniency and double standards in pro sports.

I agree with lefty. As for what if the outcome was worse, then a worse punishment should be given.

either way,my point is still this, assaults in sports are treated differently than in normal everyday life, and that's wrong IMO.

like in hockey or basketball or whatever,if a player slugs another one,it's a foul or minor suspension or fine,

but if I slugged you on the street,I would most likely go to jail, and face a long road of legal problems.

Fights have always been a part of hockey, whether they call it a foul or not.

If some guy tripped another person in a restaurant nothing would happen their except the victim bitching the tripper out, maybe a manager would kick that person out. If the victim got hurt then depending on injuries it might escalate a little or a lot.

I don't see the double standard in this instance.

Nah, can just agrue it as irrational or overkill to set an example.

It's a worthy punishment IMO. Last I checked people are not convicted on what might have happened but on what actually did happen. He might have gotten hurt, but he didn't. He's got to pay up 25k, out for the year and face the humiliation of pulling such an immature and selfish act. The punishment fits the crime IMO.
Have your feelings been hurt by a random act of E-Thuggery? If so, call 1-800-Waaaaahmbulance, we're here 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, to take your call, you could be due a large monetary settlement, don't delay, call now.
