    Question Will this Optimizer work in this case?

    I have been browsing this wonderful forum which has lots of valuable information.

    I want to ask if I am optimizing a connection which is a tethered mobile phone will these methods work in my case?

    Need your TCP Analyzer, tracert, HijackThis => TCP tweaking, EMI Eliminating, Spyware Eliminating

    Question Analyzer Results

    SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer

    IP Address: 66.54.xxx.xx
    Client OS: Windows Vista
    Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 Firefox/3.6.12
    Please Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
    TCP options string = 020403e8010303020402080a0001f0f800000000
    MTU = 1040
    MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.
    MSS = 1000
    MSS is not optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU value.
    Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 16796
    RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits (scale factor: 2^2=4)
    Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 4199

    In Windows Vista, unless "TCP/IP Auto-Tuning" is disabled, only the Current TCP Window is displayed. Use the SG Vista TCP/IP patch instead of the TCP Optimizer for automatic tweaking.
    For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
    Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
    64000 (up to 2 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 64)
    128000 (1-5 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 64 * 2)
    256000 (2-14 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 64 * 2^2)
    512000 (8-30 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 64 * 2^3)
    1024000 (25-60 Mbit lines depending on latency. MSS * 64 * 2^4)
    bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

    Your TCP Window limits you to: 672 kbps (84 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
    Your TCP Window limits you to: 269 kbps (34 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
    Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.
    MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
    Time to live left = 49 hops
    TTL value is ok.
    Timestamps (RFC1323) = ON
    Note: Timestamps add 12 bytes to the TCP header of each packet, reducing the space available for useful data.
    Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
    IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

    Above is my analyzer results and tracert. I did not get a chance to use the HiJackThis, but if the SG TCP analyzer does not work with SP1 of Vista can you recommend settings, from my analysis, that I can use in another program like All Modem Tweak or Cable Nut?

    MTU = 1040
    Is your conection configured to use proxy ? MTU for DSL 1492 or 1480, MTU for Cable Connection 1500 => Disable proxy, try increasing MTU Option , MSS Option (if any) in modem

    How to read tracert :

    Hop 1 : shows signals between modem & PC, It should be 1ms 1ms 1ms ! Higher or occur * or Request timed out=> not good !

    Hop 2: shows signals between modem & ISP It should range from 10 to 40 ms ! Higher or occur * or Request timed out => not good !

    From Hop 3 to trace complete : ISP Network Signals, * or Request timed out => Not Good !

    How to fix Hop 1 & 2 issue :

    +Turn off modem/router for 10 minutes, relocate them to some place that are a few feet away from ALL other electrical devices, including apart from each other.Also, make sure you do not coil up any excess length of signal or power cables.

    Then do a tracert again ! Hope this helps !

    If not :

    Do a full scan for malware/spyware with :

    Ad-aware
    Spybot Search & Destroy
    Superantispyware

    In Vista & 7 , just maximize your MTU > Optimal Setting (TCP Optimizer)

    Question

    What has worked for me is the Window Vista article.

    I have been manually tweaking the registry using Dwords and netsh.

    I have manage in some cases to double the speeds I was getting eg 0.10 Mbps to about 0.20 Mbps but this is still way low from reported connection speed of 1.0 Mbps.

    What else can be done?
